There is a moment that happens quietly in our warehouse called “Haven of Hope”.

A volunteer picks up a coat, folds a blanket, matches a pair of shoes, or places shampoo and toothpaste into a bag. To someone watching from the outside, it may look like simple sorting. It may look like organizing shelves. It may look like another box being packed. But to the person receiving those items, it can feel like something entirely different. It can feel like dignity being returned. It can feel like hope showing up at the exact moment they needed it most.

At Milford Advocacy for the Homeless, we meet people in some of the hardest seasons of their lives. Some are living in their cars. Some are sleeping outside. Some are seniors trying to stretch a small fixed income. Some are parents doing everything they can to keep their children clean, warm, and cared for. Some have finally found a place to live, but they are walking into an empty space with little more than determination and a key. That is where our In-Kind Donations Program becomes more than donations. It becomes care in motion.

Every shirt, blanket, hygiene item, pair of shoes, towel, kitchen item, and household essential tells a neighbor, “You have not been forgotten.” These items help people take the next step, whether that step is getting through the night, going to work, attending an appointment, moving into housing, or simply feeling human again, but the need is growing. Our community continues to give generously, and we are deeply grateful. Donations come in because people care. They want to help. They want to be part of the solution. But generosity needs hands, leadership, and organization to become impact.

That is why we are looking for an In-Kind Donations Team Lead.

This volunteer role is not just about managing bins or tracking inventory. It is about helping build the bridge between the person who gives and the neighbor who receives. It is about leading volunteers, organizing donations with purpose, keeping the warehouse flowing, and making sure the items we provide are clean, useful, respectful, and ready to bless someone in need. The Team Lead helps create order from abundance. They help volunteers know where to serve. They help make sure urgent needs do not get lost in the shuffle. They help turn a room full of donations into real, practical support for real people.

And that matters. Because when a neighbor asks for help, they are often asking from a place of vulnerability. They may already feel embarrassed, exhausted, or unseen. The way we prepare and provide items matters. A clean coat matters. A thoughtfully packed hygiene bag matters. A well-organized clothing area matters. A volunteer who treats each request with care matters. This work says, “You are worthy of our best.”

If you are someone who can organize, encourage, lead, and serve with compassion, this may be your place. You do not need to have all the answers. You do not need to do it alone. You simply need a heart for people, a willingness to lead, and a desire to help turn community generosity into hope in action.

The In-Kind Donations Team Lead will help guide volunteers, oversee sorting and inventory, coordinate warehouse operations, build relationships with donors and partners, support reporting, and help ensure every item is handled with dignity and care.

• Behind every donation is a giver.

• Behind every request is a person.

• And between the two, we need leaders who can help make sure love reaches the right hands.
