There is something hopeful about preparing for a new season.
At Haven of Hope, our Warehouse & Distribution Center, our volunteers are busy transitioning our clothing and warmth items from spring and summer to fall and winter. Bins are being refreshed, donations are being reorganized, and shelves are being prepared so we can quickly respond when a neighbor needs a warm coat, a pair of jeans, a sweatshirt, or other seasonal essentials.
Every item on those shelves has a purpose. It may become the coat someone wears while waiting for transportation, the warm clothing a family needs after an unexpected housing transition, or the everyday basics that help someone stretch an already limited budget.
Why We Accept Clothing by Season
Storage space at Haven of Hope is limited, and we want to make the best possible use of every shelf and bin. For that reason, we only accept clothing donations that match the season we are currently experiencing.
As we transition into fall and winter, we are preparing to receive gently used seasonal clothing and warmth items that can be distributed throughout our community.
We kindly ask that clothing donations be:
- Gently used and in good condition
- Washed before donating
- Appropriate for the current season
- Placed in bags or boxes weighing no more than 10 pounds
These guidelines help our volunteers safely handle donations and allow us to sort and distribute items more efficiently.
Dropping Off Your Donations
Gently used, in-season clothing may be donated at any of our three MAH drop-off locations during daylight hours, Monday through Friday:
- 141 Aspen Court, Building 26, Milford, DE
- 232 S. Landing Drive, Milford, DE
- 400 Pierce Street, Milford, DE 19963
Please place donations securely on the porch or designated drop-off area in bags or boxes weighing no more than 10 pounds.
If you have a larger donation, please do not leave it at a drop-off location. Instead, call 302-217-3106, option 8, so we can make arrangements with you for drop-off.
Your Closet Can Help Someone Else
A jacket your family has outgrown, a warm sweater you no longer wear, or a pair of jeans sitting in the back of a closet can become something important to another person.
Your donations make it possible for Milford Advocacy for the Homeless to fill requests from vulnerable individuals and families throughout our community, both housed and unhoused. They help us meet people where they are, respond to immediate needs, and walk alongside our neighbors with dignity and compassion.
As we refresh our bins and prepare Haven of Hope for fall and winter, we are reminded once again that this work is truly community-powered.
Thank you for your generosity, your continued support, and for helping us make sure our neighbors have what they need for the season ahead.
Together, we can help bring warmth, dignity, and hope to our community.
