There is something special about being out in the community, meeting people face-to-face, sharing resources, and simply having the chance to connect. That is what First Friday gave us. Throughout the evening, neighbors stopped by our booth to talk, ask questions, learn more about available resources, and sometimes just say hello. Some were looking for support for themselves, while others picked up information to share with a friend, family member, or someone else who might need it.

By the end of the evening, we had connected with 154 community members, distributed 5 children’s bicycles, handed out 31 meals in a bag, and shared more than 300 wallet cards with information about 988, the Marigold App, and MAH Journey Partner support. Those numbers tell part of the story, but the conversations are what stay with us. A bicycle can mean freedom and fun for a child. A meal can help someone get through the evening. A wallet card can sit quietly in a pocket until the moment someone needs to know where to turn. Sometimes, a simple conversation can remind someone that there are people in the community who care and are willing to listen.

We are especially thankful for the volunteers who made all of this possible. From preparing meals and gathering resources to transporting bicycles, setting up the booth, greeting visitors, and sharing information, every volunteer played a part in helping us be present for our community. MAH is volunteer-powered, and evenings like this are a reminder of what can happen when people come together with a shared desire to serve.

We are also grateful to everyone who stopped by, shared a story, asked a question, took a resource, or helped pass information along to someone else. Each connection helps extend the reach of support beyond the event itself. At Milford Advocacy for the Homeless, we believe in meeting people where they are and walking alongside them. Sometimes that starts with a bicycle. Sometimes it is a meal, a resource card, or a conversation. Each one matters.

We are grateful to serve this community, and we are thankful for every volunteer, partner, and neighbor who helps make that service possible.

Hope Lives Here.
