At Milford Advocacy for the Homeless, we believe that every individual deserves the opportunity for a new start — a chance to rebuild, grow, and thrive. One of the most powerful ways to begin that journey is through education and skill development. That’s why we’re proud to connect our neighbors with programs offered by Delaware Technical Community College (Delaware Tech). Through their Workforce Development and Community Education programs, Delaware Tech provides hands-on training, certifications, and professional development courses that prepare individuals for rewarding careers in today’s job market. Whether someone is seeking to reenter the workforce, change careers, or gain specialized skills, these classes open doors to stability and success.

Financing a new educational journey can often feel overwhelming, but Delaware Tech offers several financial assistance programs designed to remove those barriers. The SEED (Student Excellence Equals Degree) Program provides tuition coverage for eligible Delaware residents attending Delaware Tech, ensuring that cost does not stand in the way of earning a degree or certification. This program is available to recent high school graduates and, under the expanded SEED+ program, many adults returning to school for career advancement.

For individuals who are unemployed, underemployed, or seeking to build new skills, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program offers invaluable support. WIOA provides funding for education and training in high-demand fields, along with career counseling and job placement assistance. This program helps participants prepare for long-term, sustainable employment and promotes economic self-sufficiency — a cornerstone of the new start many are seeking.

Delaware Tech also offers the Senior Citizen Tuition-Free Program, providing individuals aged 60 and older with free tuition for credit courses. This program is an incredible resource for older adults who want to stay active, continue learning, or gain new skills for employment or volunteer opportunities. A new start can happen at any age — and through this program, seniors can explore new pathways, passions, and possibilities.

At Milford Advocacy, we know that a new start often begins with a new job. Take the next step toward stability, independence, and hope. We encourage anyone interested in workforce development training or financial assistance opportunities to visit www.dtcc.edu/workforcedevelopment to learn more and begin their new start today.
